🐑 A Sheep with Character — and a Story to Tell

Join a kind, creative course that teaches more than just technique — it grows your confidence, too.

Why Elsie is So Special

What makes this course truly meaningful isn’t just the felting — it’s the women who show up.

  • Women who message me unsure they’ll be able to do it…
  • Women who were told they weren’t “very arty”…
  • Women who haven’t made anything in years.

Then something shifts.

  • They start speaking about their makes with joy.
  • They share photos with pride.
  • They achieve things they didn’t think were possible.

And then — they go on to make their own beautiful designs.

That’s the real magic. Not just the sheep — but the confidence that follows.

What You’ll Learn

This course is a warm, guided invitation into the world of sculptural needle felting — one poke at a time.

You’ll learn how to:

  • ✨ Sculpt expressive features using wool, yarn, and clay
  • ✨ Blend mixed-media techniques that you’ll reuse in your own designs
  • ✨ Build confidence with clear, step-by-step video lessons
  • ✨ Assemble a piece you’ll be proud to display or gift

Perfect for total beginners or anyone looking to return to their creative self.

Why Choose this Course?

This isn’t just about learning to needle felt — it’s about making something that matters.

Elsie was born from memories of my aunties — warm, witty women with fluffy slippers, cheeky smiles, and stories stitched into every cardigan.

When I sculpt her, I’m not just working with wool and wire — I’m honouring laughter, lineage, and the joy of making with our hands.

This course invites you into that story.

✨ Learn sculptural and mixed-media techniques you’ll reuse again and again

✨ Create a character full of charm, personality — and a bit of cheek

✨ Make space for creativity in your life, with gentle, at-your-own-pace lessons

✨ Join a kind, supportive community that celebrates every step — not just the final piece

Whether you’re just starting out, returning to making after a break, or ready to explore new techniques, Elsie helps you create more than a piece of art — she helps you reconnect with your own creative voice.

“What you make is beautiful — but what happens after Elsie is even more special.”

"Lovely to chat as always. What a great bunch of inspiring and supportive women. Thank you Sally for facilitating this - it really has been quite life changing for me. I love Sally’s workshops because she breaks everything down to basics and before you know it you’ve created something fantastic! Sally explains everything so clearly and calmly. I’ve realised I can do this!!!"

"I love Sally's course, the videos are easy to follow and allow you to go back to them and work at your own pace. Sally is an amazing lady whom I have learnt loads from. She explains what you need to do clearly and she is always there if you need to ask her anything"

— Carrie

"I have really enjoyed Sally's Elsie course. I have learnt some great transferable skills and am looking forward to using the knowledge I have gained in my own designs. The Elsie course and the Fab 5 felting courses are both clear and easy to follow. The learning portal videos make it really easy to dip in and out and go back over things at my own pace."

Learn Techniques Step by Step at your own pace

Some of my Students finished work-None had used Silk Clay before

" I've been thinking about this. It's been hard to choose one technique. Making and understanding the need for firm felting has probably been the most useful technique but the whole idea of working to scale has been great and, like Sue, I loved making the clay boots. It was all brilliant!"

— Emma

"Using silk clay for the boots was a first for me and I will definitely use it again. maybe also for dogs noses. And felting the body tightly enough to make holes for the wires that didn’t instantly close was really helpful. Plus it was lovely to be able to connect by zoom to the others to share tips and progress xx"

— Sue

"I’ve particularly enjoyed working with wire for the first time. It’s opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me! Also, using the reverse felting needle is a joy "

— Elaine

Meet Sally

A Little Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Sally — a needle felting artist, teacher, and community builder based in the Lake District.

I’m a proud member of the International Feltmakers Association and an Associate of the Royal Society of Arts — but like many creatives, my journey hasn’t been a straight line.

Although I fell in love with making as a child, I was told early on that I “wasn’t very good,” and I abandoned art for nearly 40 years. But creativity never truly left me — it lived quietly in music, crafting, and the joy of handmade things.

After years of coaching and community work (especially supporting women), I finally reconnected with my creative voice through Inspire Women Oldham. That journey brought me back to wool, storytelling, and sculpture — where I found myself again.

Now, I create soulful, sustainable character pieces using British fibres — and help others rediscover their creativity too. Not perfectly, but honestly, with courage, and with heart.
